I suffered with chronic pelvic pain starting in my mid-twenties and stretching into my late forties. Today I have found much relief with Martha Beck life coaching and mind-body healing tools and I’m really enjoying my life. A few years ago I was at a very low point with my pain. My hip and knee were hung up with pain making it difficult to bend down. I had chronic pelvic pain, urinary urgency, vaginal soreness, nocturnal muscle camps in my rectum and was not sleeping well. I tried medication, chiropractors, acupuncture, internal physical therapy, resting, diet, naturopathy, psychic work, cutting my work to half-time and much more without satisfying results.
On my path to healing I spent more than 7 years studying with my psychic teacher, Nancy Anagnost. Through my studies I connected deeply with my spirituality, created healthier relationships and got some relief from symptoms. I developed psychic skills which connected me more deeply with my spirituality and taught me to consciously work with energy which helped me feel better in many ways. However I still struggled with pelvic pain.
My turning point came when I attended a pelvic pain clinic and learned about trigger points in muscles which cause myofascial pain. After over 20 years of suffering I finally knew that my pain was in my muscles and I had a way to relieve it and help my muscles relax. But I still experienced flareups during times of stress. What was missing was how to prevent the muscle tension and heal it from the inside out. It was another year before I connected with Abigail Steidley, a Martha Beck Life Coach, who uses mind-body methods in addition to Martha Beck life coaching tools in her healing practice. I later went on to train with Abigail and she has endorsed me as an Anamsong a mind-body coach.
It was while being coached by Abigail that I truly came to understand the tension in my muscles was caused by unconsciously resisting feeling my emotions. I put into place daily practices which have helped me immensely to tune into feeling my emotions, calm my mind, tap into my inner wisdom and in the process relieve my pain. A huge part was learning to welcome the physical sensations of emotions and to feel them rather than resist them. Another major piece has been moving my body regularly. Once my trigger points began releasing I could exercise again and my daily practice of yoga helps to keep me limber. I have gone back to doing many of the physical things I love such as swimming in cool rivers and lakes, backpacking, gardening, dancing and more!
My journey included being on a restricted diet for Candidiasis and pelvic pain for more than 20 years. I got some help from a clinical nutritionist who diagnosed me with low stomach acid for which there was a simple fix. Today I can eat anything I want and I take daily pleasure in my meals. I know now that the symptoms I thought were an overgrowth of yeast in my body was actually from adrenal fatigue caused by being in the fight, flight or freeze response so much which caused my hormones to get out of balance resulting in vaginal soreness in addition to decreased blood flow in my tissues due to chronically tight muscles.
I am so excited about what I have learned and how much better I am feeling that I want to share that success with you. I know what it feels like to be where you are with few options, most of which don’t work, and I am here to tell you there is very much hope for you to feel better and in the process live your best life!
